Mariki is a self-taught artist, based in Victoria, B.C. Canada.
Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Mariki’s art is inspired predominantly by her love for this diverse and colourful country. After obtaining her degree, she travelled extensively abroad, which also influenced her work.
Mariki strives to give life to a special feeling or memory with her oil paintings, or charcoal/graphite sketches. Although her work tends to be realistic, she prefers to focus more on evoking the intended emotion with her choice of theme and colour.
Mariki’s other passion, interior styling, influences her to often create smaller pieces to style with. Art for specific rooms and fun pieces to scatter in between other art and photos on a wall, or simply on a shelf among your favourite books.
When salvaging a beautiful antique or vintage frame, it immediately inspires her to put a piece of art in it and give it new life!
I love to create art for the sole purpose of bringing joy to anyone that it speaks to.
